Why do we exist?
SCPD exists to stimulate a community of thinkers who act with intent to effectively innovate big solutions that will create a healthy future.
The Society of Concurrent Product Development (SCPD) is a non-profit 501 (c) (6) organization incorporated in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
SCPD helps organizations to improve the productivity of new product creation through synergistic leveraging of concurrent engineering, parallel execution processes, innovation, technology, tools, and best practices. We accomplish our mission through professional conferences, a member newsletter, webinars and educational events, technical papers, and moderation of Special Interest Groups. The Society informs our constituency regarding emerging advances, research data, and best practices in the art. We are an entirely volunteer organization; there is no paid staff at SCPD.
In keeping with our values, we occasionally seek out Event Partners and Sponsors that are focused on rapid, innovative and economical product and service realization techniques at any point along the product creation process.
Provide access to a body of knowledge supported by a community of practitioners.
Specifically, SCPD focuses on corporations for the purpose of improving concurrency and teamwork. We help these organizations to improve the productivity of new product creation through synergistic leveraging of concurrent engineering, parallel execution processes, innovation, technology, tools, and best practices. We do this through our own efforts and through relationships with other for profit and non-profit groups whose mission complements our own. Our relationships span diverse organizations that provide services, software, technologies, research, and tools that allow individuals and teams to enhance innovation and results for a given amount of resources. Our partners include institutions and organizations that develop and promote new innovative approaches to product and services development from conceptualization through market introduction.
SCPD membership provides the opportunity to network with other concurrent product development practitioners and specialists over a wide spectrum of industries. Active members often chose to participate in the governance of the Society, or to take a role in one or more of the activities through which we fulfill our mission. By doing so, they obtain career-relevant experience that can result in advancement opportunities within their workplace. We encourage all members to participate in SCPD activities for the knowledge, contacts, experience, and recognition that will accrue to them as individuals, and to their employer organizations.
